This is a site for our family and friends that will show our children's major milestones through their young lives. We will try to keep it updated as much as possible. Enjoy!

Professional Scooter!

This weekend we went to a local park and took Austin's 6 month pictures. He had fun playing and eating the dandelions that the Parks Department have blessed us with. He tried to taste them.....apparently they don't taste very good! He tried out the swings also and loved them! We are buying him a swing for home soon so he can enjoy it everyday! On Saturday Austin had a very big day. Aside from us taking his pictures, he also began to army crawl on the floor. He's able to make it all the way across the living room floor now and is loving it! He's been scooting for quite some time, but never this far or with this much speed! Watch out now! He also had his first real "belly laugh" as Jared likes to call it. We haven't heard it since Saturday night, but it was adorable!

First TinCaps Game!

On Tuesday night, we took Austin to his first Fort Wayne TinCaps Baseball game. Jared received tickets to one of the suites from work. The TinCaps just started off their season a week or so ago in their brand new stadium, located in downtown Fort Wayne. Fort Wayne has had a Minor League Baseball team for years, formerly known as the Fort Wayne Wizards. With the new stadium, came a new name. At first we thought that the TinCaps was a pretty lame name, but it's starting to grow on us. It originates from Johnny Appleseed, who's gravesite is located in Fort Wayne (for those of you who may not know). It was cold and rainy (about 45-50 degrees......maybe). The crowd turnout wasn't very good as you can see from the pictures (it has actually been sold out so far), but he still enjoyed looking around and watching the game. We sat outside a little bit, with him bundled up. He had on three shirts, two hats, thick pants, and a blanket. As you can see in the picture above, he was pretty warm. Jared and I actually took turns having Austin on our lap so he could keep us warm! Leave it to Indiana to have this sort of weather in the middle of April! The stadium was amazing, and is a great addition to our downtown area. The tickets are more affordable, and you can even sit in the lawn on the outfield! We will probably end up going back in summer months again, and can't wait to take Austin back. My apologies to Uncle Chris, who wanted to be here to take Austin to his first game.....maybe you can take him to his first game when it's actually nice out and not 40 degrees and raining!

Brush, Brush, Brush your Teeth!

Last night we decided that since Austin now has two teeth, it's time we start brushing them! Based on the recommendation of our Dentist and Pediatrician, we gave Austin his first toothbrush with some Flouride-Free Toothpaste. H
e really enjoyed brushing his teeth....I bet it would feel funny for the first time!

This weekend we worked out in the yard some. This was Austin's first time wearing shorts, playing outside, and he swung with dad on the porch swing. As you can tell, he thought that was pretty cool! He got a bit of sun that day, but he really enjoyed the change of scenery to observe!
On Monday evening, we gave Austin his first bite of Avocado. To our surprise, he loved it! He's starting to do really well with gumming his food, so we gave it to him in chunks. I think he's actually starting to like eating his food that way better than the Purees.

It's Official, He's Sitting up like a Big Boy!

Austin and I have had a busy week. He's been very silly, and showing off his ever expanding personality daily. Like I said in an earlier post, tooth number two has arrived, so he was cranky earlier this week. It finally broke the skin, and he seems to be much happier! His crankiness was nothing that a little Tylenol and love from mom and dad couldn't solve! He was happiest when being cuddled in our arms, which was incredibly sweet.
Austin has finally begun to sit up on his own this week, for minutes at a time. We are actually able to prop him up, give him a toy, and he will sit there for over 5 minutes and play! He loves playing with his toys in this new found position! His latest hobby is getting into everything that is surrounding him. In the picture above, he discovered our DVD collection that was sitting out on the floor, and man, did he have a good time playing with that!

And this last picture, I thought was just too cute! While he was eating dinner the other night, I kept asking him "Austin, are you makin' a mess?" And this was the response I got every time. Even though we had a rough start to the week, this face made everything worth it!

Tooth Number Two

Austin has been working on tooth number two the last few days, and man, have I had my hands full! He's been really fussy, not sleeping really well, and all he wants to do is be held. It's sweet, but I can't get anything done. He's been really rambunctious this week! The above picture is Austin's first taste of Cheerio's. He's still not too sure of solider food, but he's beginning to enjoy it.

This picture is of Austin this morning at breakfast. Not only was he trying to help, he was multitasking!

We're working on Sitting up!

In the past few days, Austin has been working on balancing himself enough to sit up on his own. He's not quite there though. He's able to sit up on his own for the most part, but when he gets distracted, he'll fall to one side. We've been sitting next to him so he doesn't fall too hard. He's been doing really well though. He's made great strides just in the last few days with it, it's only a matter of time and he will do it on his own!

Austin's Great Grandma and Grandpa sent him money this week for an Easter present, which we picked out for him yesterday. It's a toy that makes car sounds, sings the ABC's, counts numbers, and tells him shapes and colors. We thought he would enjoy it because he can sit and play with it on his lap. So far, he loves it. He's actually rolled over to get it on his own this morning (shown above)!

He's Officially 6 Months Old now!

Austin had his 6 month check up at the Doctor's office yesterday and he took it like a champ. As always, he cried a bit with the shots, but once his daddy held him he was fine. Austin is now 20 lbs 1 ounce (90th percentile), 28 inches long (95th percentile), and his head was 18 inches around (90th percentile). For those of you who don't understand the percentiles, 50% is average, which Austin hasn't been since he was born. He's just a big boy! The doctor said everything looks good and that he can start eating table food. We are able to give him cooked foods that are mashed up and he can gum, such as potatoes, bananas, apples, broccoli, spinach, pancakes, Cheerios, etc. Austin squirmed through his entire appointment, but was very talkative to the doctor.

It's amazing how much he's changed just in the last week. He's recently started to squeal when he's playing with his toys which is just hilarious. He started to squeal a few months ago, but not to this extent. Yesterday he started to scoot (a little like the army crawl) across the floor to get his toys and play with my foot. Today, he was doing mini push ups and pulling his belly off of the ground. It's only a matter of time before he actually starts to crawl! He's still working on his laugh, but has begun to giggle a little when he gets excited. He's really getting to that age where he's going to be a ton of fun. Austin's personality has really begun to show in the last two weeks. And let me just say this, I'm going to have my hands full very soon! I welcome it and can't wait for it!!!

Austin's First Weekend Away from Mom and Dad

Austin spent his first few days away from Mom and Dad. He spent Thursday-Sunday with his grandma and grandpa. Jared and I were in a wedding for Austin's Aunt Kristin and Uncle Chris (Show above). We decided to leave him behind, which was extremely difficult to do, but I think in the long run, we all had a good time and it worked out for the best! Grandma and grandpa said he did wonderful though and that he was a perfect angel. Jared and I came home to Austin, who while we were away, learned to stick his tongue out and give foot massages to his grandpa. My dad used to pay me a quarter to give him a foot massage when I was younger. He's trying to teach Austin this a little early!
